Frigidaire furnaces, AC and heat pumps
Frigidaire furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps are built by Nordyne. The serial is three characters followed by nine digits: the fourth and fifth characters are the year and the sixth and seventh are the month.
Covered on the Nordyne page, which explains the shared serial system.
One format on record: three characters, then year and month (built since the mid-1990s).
Frigidaire appliances
The serial number is on a tag inside the appliance: on the upper wall of the fresh-food compartment of a refrigerator, or along the door opening of a washer, dryer or dishwasher. In a Frigidaire serial the third character is the last digit of the year and the two digits after it are the week.
One format on record: plant, product letter, year digit, then week (built since 1986).
About Frigidaire
General Motors owned Frigidaire until 1979, when it passed to White Consolidated Industries. Electrolux bought that company in 1986 and still owns Frigidaire. Frigidaire heating and cooling equipment is a separate business, built by Nordyne under licence, with its own serial code.
