Reporting a serial number that does not decode

A serial that fits none of the formats on record is the most useful thing a reader can send. Please include:

• the brand and the type of equipment;
• the model number and the serial number, exactly as printed;
• a photo of the rating plate, if you can take one;
• the date you believe is correct and how you know it, for example an installation invoice.

Confirmed corrections are added to the brand page with a new “last checked” date.

What this site cannot do

• It cannot look up warranty status, recall status or ownership. Those records belong to the manufacturer.
• It does not sell, service or install equipment.
• It is not a manufacturer’s support line. For a product problem, contact the manufacturer named on the rating plate.
